Microsoft Purview is the natural choice for organizations standardized on Microsoft 365 E5. AILeakShield gives the same AI discovery, control and prompt protection to organizations that do not have E5, or that want AI governance in one product their IT provider can run.
What Microsoft Purview is: Microsoft data security and compliance suite (Purview DSPM, Endpoint DLP, Edge for Business inline protection), with Defender for Cloud Apps and Defender for Endpoint for discovery and blocking.
Yes means documented. Partial means limited, an add-on, a separate product or preview. Not documented means we could not find it in the vendor's public documentation; it does not mean the vendor has tested and failed it.

Microsoft Purview: Purview Endpoint DLP is licensed with Microsoft 365 E5, A5 or G5, the Purview suite, or E5 Information Protection and Governance. Inline protection for third-party AI apps in Edge for Business is billed pay-as-you-go per request on an Azure subscription, and requires Intune-managed Windows devices. NIST AI RMF assessment templates are a premium Compliance Manager add-on.
AILeakShield: A browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox, installed silently through Google Admin, Microsoft Intune, Group Policy or Jamf, plus firewall and DNS log import and an optional read-only Microsoft 365 connection. No proxy, no TLS inspection and no new browser. Everything is in one subscription, sold through IT providers and distribution including TD SYNNEX, with no seat minimum. Most organizations start in monitor mode.
Many organizations use both. If you already own E5, Purview covers Microsoft 365 Copilot deeply, and AILeakShield adds an AI-specific inventory across every AI tool, coverage on devices that are not onboarded to Defender, staff policy acknowledgment and a single governance view for leadership.

For AI use, yes. AILeakShield covers AI discovery, blocking, prompt and file inspection, Microsoft 365 AI app governance and a NIST AI RMF assessment without Microsoft 365 E5. Purview is broader for general data governance across email, files and endpoints.
No. AILeakShield works with any Microsoft 365 plan, and with Google Workspace organizations, through a browser extension, log import and an optional read-only Microsoft 365 connection.
Yes. They do not conflict. Purview can keep governing Microsoft 365 Copilot and your files while AILeakShield inventories every AI tool, protects prompts in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and records staff policy acknowledgment.

AILeakShield discovers all the AI in your environment, blocks the AI tools you have not approved, and keeps sensitive data out of the prompts sent to the ones you have.
